After the Deadline is live!

February 25th, 2009

Well, its official.  I’ve soft launched After the Deadline.  If you read Hacker News, I made a post announcing this product 20 minutes ago.

If you like this product, it will only get better from here.  Here are some things to look forward to:

More Platforms

I believe people are producing content on the web without the help of MS Office.  This poses a problem because these content management platforms have a weak a spellchecker if anything.  My goal is to enable people to write better on the web.

More Rules

A large collection of rules separates After the Deadline from MS Office.  After the Deadline doesn’t just find errors, it helps make good writing better.  The style checker has eight thousand rules.  This is just a start.  As the product progresses and I grow my team, you can expect more rules.

Better “real word” Error Correction

Most spellcheckers have trouble finding and correcting typos that result in a real word.  For example, typing “where” when I mean “were” is a real word error.  After the Deadline does some corrections of this type now.  I have plans to expand on this feature, make it more accurate, and cut false positives.

I hope you enjoy this product.  Your opinion is very important.  If this tool helps you or if you have suggestions to improve it.  Please contact me.

I think it looks and works just great. It’s indeed what we need for doing things on the web: easy to use “assistants” that facilitate and/or help correct human error and maybe let us learn something in the progress. We need more people like you who fix real problems. Two thumbs up & keep it coming!

BTW: don’t forget to include it here on your own blog. Would have been great if I could have let AtD loose on this comment as well.

I am not trying to nitpick. It’s just that grammatical glitches don’t sit very well in a post that is launching the product that allows you to write better.

@Kailash thanks for the input, I know my writing is under a microscope now. Maybe I should hire someone to write for me? :)
